The Conservation and Restoration Laboratory is divided in six working divisions: painting, wood, porcelain, textile, paper and bookbinding, with a staff of 10 specialized technicians.

Sponsored by Fundação Vitae, the paper division is responsible for all the Museum's bibliographycal and documental collection as well as paper notes and philately of the Numismatic collection.

Thanks to the tasks accomplished by the technicians it was possible to restore important pieces, such as the monumental paintings "The Naval Combat of Riachuelo", "The Ball at Fiscal Island", and the "Carriages ‘ Collection". See them at "PERMANENT EXHIBITIONS".
