This 60-piece collection includes busts, molds and models of Rodolfo
Bernardelli (1852-1931), perhaps the most renowned sculptor graduated from
the Imperial Academy of Fine Arts.
Born in Guadalajara, Mexico, he came very young to Brazil. Attending
sculpture classes in the Academy, he received a travel prize in 1876.
Appointed Sculpture Professor, in the Republican period he was nominated
Director of the National School of Fine Arts, the new name of the ancient
Academy.
A great part of his work reproduces personages of the Empire and the
Republic, such as the Viscount of Rio Branco, here illustrated. |
