Nair de Teffé, the first brazilian caricaturist.
The Virtual Gallery presents cartoons by Nair de Teffé (1886-1981), whose
artistic name was Rian. She became famous and notorious in the early 20th
century, especially from 1909 on, when she married the then President of
the Republic, Marshall Hermes da Fonseca, in 1913. Her skecthes reveal a
remarkable artist, a pioneer cartunist whose independent personality broke
with the taboos of the epoch.
